Pono Burger

Ambience: a laid back but upscale, open-air vibe with rustic, country-style decor

Ordering procedure: wait service (table or bar self seating)

Burger presentation: all put together with a toothpick down the center on a platter

Classic: lettuce, pickle, onion, tomato, house sauce

Cheese situation: add-on charge for some but some it comes with

Fries: skinny style, seasoned (served with house aioli)

Meal deal: burger, fries, and drink must be bought separately

Meal price: $20-25

Other: view of grill area, patio style seating option, personal wine bottle of water

First location: Santa Monica, California (only two other Los Angeles area locations in Venice & West Hollywood)

Review: I would qualify this as an advanced take on the basic California classic burger. It’s certainly not mind-blowing but it’s definitely well made and well built.
